Great interview Rachel. Lots to think about. I’m glad you mentioned the Sonic Defenders. I didn’t know such a thing existed. My foam earplugs seem to block the conversation as well as the ambient noise or “interference.” It would be nice to be able to hear a person talking to me in a restaurant and not have the stress of trying to sort what they say from all the other conversations.

I haven’t tried out the Sonic Defenders in a restaurant; I’m not sure how well they’d work with a lot of surrounding conversation. They seem to work best with blocking nonverbal sound, and with conversation that’s not too close to me.
